Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in Pakistan

Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Pakistan on December 23-24, 2013.

During the visit, “Memorandum of Understanding Between the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), The Republic Of Turkey and Pakistan Standards And Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Islamic Republic Of Pakistan”, “Project Agreement Between Punjab Industrial Department and Prime Ministry Turkish Cooperation And Coordination Agency of the Republic of Turkey, Memorandum of Understanding Between TOBB and Pakistan Railways”, “Draft Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Sports Between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan”, “Cooperation Protocol Between the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Disaster Management” were signed.

Within the framework of the visit, Prime Minister Erdoğan was received by Mamnoon Hussain, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He held tet-a-tete meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff and chaired the meeting between the delegations. Apart from Islamabad, Prime Minister also visited Lahore and met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

During the joint press conference that was held after the meetings, Prime Minister Erdoğan said “Our political relations with Pakistan continue strongly. We attach great importance on mutual high level visits intended for further develop our relations that are in excellent condition in line with our common interests. We would like to expand this to all areas such as military, economy, commerce, culture and tourism.” Prime Minister also stated that he wishes for the increasing of trade volume between two brotherly countries further, to a level that will reflect the excellent relations between them.
