On September 3, 2014, President H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the joint press conference following the meetings, President Erdoğan, who paid his first official visits to the TRNC and Azerbaijan, stated that they had the opportunity to discuss all the issues that are of interest to both countries.

Stating that the groundbreaking ceremony for the South Caucasus Pipeline will be held in 20th September at Baku, President Erdoğan emphasized that as the starting point of TANAP in Azerbaijan, the project carries great significance. President Erdogan also reiterated the importance of energy cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

President Erdoğan then paid a visit to the late President Haydar Aliyev's grave and cemeteries of the Turkish and Azerbaijani fallen soldiers.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accompanied the President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to Azerbaijan.
