Within the scope of its enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy,
Turkey attaches importance to the peaceful settlement of disputes and plays
a leading role in the mediation efforts in regional and international
organizations, especially the UN, OSCE and the Organisation of Islamic
Cooperation (OIC).
In this context, Turkey ensured the adoption of the two Resolutions of the
OIC Council of Foreign Ministers entitled “Strengthening the Mediation
Capacity of the OIC”, and last year, Turkey carried out the “Mediation for
Peace Certificate Program” for the first time, to contribute to the
capacity building in terms of mediation in the OIC region.
The second Certificate Program will be held at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Turkey between 9 and 13 September 2019.
The program includes a wide range of topics to enhance participants'
knowledge of mediation, especially regarding practical and theoretical
aspects of peace building, global conflict trends, inclusiveness in
mediation, cultural sensitivities, negotiation techniques, national
dialogue processes and their role in peace building, and mapping of
conflicts.
The opening of the training program will be held on Monday, 9 September
2019 by H.E. Yavuz Selim Kıran, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and the
closing of the program will take place on Friday, 13 September 2019 with
