We have sadly learned that a dreadful attack to the Provincial Council of Salahaddin on 29 March 2011, according to initial findings, left 70 people, including three members of that Council, dead with many others wounded. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of those who passed away and to the brotherly Iraqi nation.

We abhor this horrific act against people’s representatives, which aims at sparking turbulence and unrest in Iraq. We are fully confident that the Iraqi nation will defy these heinous plans.

Turkey stands resolute in contributing to the efforts of the Iraqi people and Government in establishing permanent security, peace and stability in their beloved country.

As before, we are ready to make every effort to help the wounded in relieving their pains.
