We have learned with sorrow that eighteen people lost their lives and at least eight people were injured as a result of an armed attack against a passenger bus in the Kohistan Region of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan today (28 February).

We strongly condemn such attacks targetting the security, stability and integrity of Pakistan. Furthermore, we wish mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, convey our condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those wounded.

On the occasion of this tragic incident, we emphasize our opposition to the ethnic or sectarian discrimination and any conduct or act aimed at deepening such discriminations. We also reiterate our belief once again that the brotherly people of Pakistan will overcome this difficult period in unity and solidarity.
