No: 402, 30 December 2017, Press Release Regarding Greece's Decision to Grant Asylum to One of the Eight Putschists

Greece, with its decision to grant asylum to one of the eight putschists who participated in the 15 July coup attempt, has once again positioned itself as a country that provides shelter and protection to putschists.

By preventing the criminals, who actively participated in the coup attempt targeting the democratic order in Turkey and who martyred hundreds of members of our security forces and civilians, from facing justice in our country, Greece does not show the support and cooperation that we would expect from an ally in the fight against terrorism and crime.

This decision, which we believe to be taken with political motives, will certainly affect our bilateral relations and joint cooperation on regional matters.
