No: 383, 12 December 2017, Press Release regarding MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting

Within the scope of 2017 Turkish Chairmanship of MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Turkey and Australia), the 11th MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) will be hosted by Turkey in Istanbul on 13 December 2017.

During Turkey’s MIKTA Chairmanship, Speakers of Parliaments from MIKTA countries have been hosted in Istanbul by the Speaker of Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Expert meetings on various issues, particularly on Turkey’s three MIKTA priorities, namely fighting against terrorism, migration and refugee crisis and economic cooperation, were also held during the Turkish Chairmanship.

In 2017, Turkey has chaired two MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meetings in the margins of G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Bonn and the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York respectively. The 11th MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting to be held on the 13th of December will be the third MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting under Turkey’s Chairmanship. During the meeting to be hosted by Turkey, MIKTA countries will also exchange their views on the global and regional issues. At the end of the meeting, MIKTA Chairmanship will be handed over to Indonesia for 2018.
