We have learned with great sorrow that, according to the initial estimates, 28 people died and 61 were wounded as a result of a bomb attack which took place in the southeastern part of Baghdad on 27 January, targeting primarily our Shiite brothers.

We strongly condemn this treacherous terrorist attack which targeted a funeral procession that included women and children. We wish mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, extend our condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.

On this sad occasion, we would like to strogly reiterate that Turkey will always act in full solidarity with the friendly and neighborly Iraqi people in combating terrorism.
