No: 296, 13 November 2013, Press Release Regarding the Visit of H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, to Myanmar

H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will visit Myanmar on 14-15 November 2013 together with H.E. Mr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the representatives of some of the Member States of the OIC Contact Group on Rohingya Muslims.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation will meet with the high level officials of Myanmar and members of the Parliament, as well as Muslim, Buddhist, Christian and Hindu community leaders. During the meetings, the acts of violence which have been recently on the rise against the Muslims living in the country, especially those in the Rakhine State, the situation of persons who have been displaced and forced to live in the camps, humanitarian assistance and the democratization process in Myanmar will be discussed.

The delegation will also visit the Rakhine State and make observations at the camps of the displaced Muslims and Buddhists.

On the occasion of the visit, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu will also hold bilateral meetings with high level officials and will participate in the ceremony of the official handover of the tractors and agricultural equipment donated by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) to Myanmar , in order to promote the agricultural capacity of Myanmar.
