No: 291, 18 December 2012, Press Release Regarding the Visit of H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, to Finland

H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will pay an official visit to Finland on 19 December 2012 upon the invitation of H.E. Mr. Erkki Tuomioja, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu will meet H.E. Mr. Sauli Niinisto, President of Finland, H.E. Mr. Jyrki Kaitanien Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Erkki Tuomioja, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Alexander Stubb, Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade, H.E. Mr. Eero Heinaluoma, Speaker of the Parliament, and H.E. Mr. Timo Juhani Soini, Chairman of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. During meetings, bilateral relations with Finland as well as joint initiative on Mediation for Peace launched under the auspices of the UN, Turkey’s EU negotiation process and the Cyprus issue will be discussed, and there will be exchange of views on regional and international issues.

H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu will hold a conference titled “Turkey’s current role in peace building in the context of recent developments, and its reflections in Europe” in the Paasikivi Society, which is one of the prominent Finnish think thanks in the field of foreign policy.

H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu will also come together with the Turkish citizens living in Finland.

It is considered that this visit will constitute an important opportunity for further enhancement and strengthening of relations between the Republic of Turkey and Finland.
