No: 24, 22 January 2014, Press Release Regarding the Latest Developments in the Central African Republic

We hope that the new process initiated with the Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States held in N’Djamena on 9-10 January 2014 with the purpose of ending the clashes that have been escalating in the Central African Republic and resolving the on-going humanitarian crisis and which resulted in the resignation of the Interim President of the Central African Republic, will constitute an opportunity for the Central African people's quest for stability and unity.

In this context, we consider the election of the new Interim President by the National Transitional Council on 20 January 2014 as a positive development, and believe that the new administration which will take on the task of ensuring the country's unity and political stability will act in an inclusive understanding representing all segments of the Central African people.

Turkey, which will also keep closely monitoring the developments regarding the protection of all places of worship, including Muslims' religious buildings in the country; is ready to provide every kind of support to the friendly Central African Republic, in the process of initiating the restoration of stability and public order in the country, starting with overcoming the humanitarian crisis.
