We have learned with deep sorrow and concern that the terrorist attacks which took place on 27 and 28 December 2009 during the Ashura commemorations in Pakistan have killed and injured many. We strongly condemn these attacks, extend our condolences to the families of the victims and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.

The attacks which targeted the people attending a procession during the Ashura have once again clearly demonstrated the unprincipled character of terror as well as its brutality.

On this sad occasion, we re-emphasize our determination to maintain our solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Pakistani people and government against terrorism which we consider to be the common enemy of humanity.
