The terrorist attack that took place today (28 October 2009) in the city of Peshawar in Pakistan and which killed and injured dozens of people, has caused deep sorrow and concern. Turkey strongly condemns this attack targeting civilians, wishes God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and swift recovery to the wounded ones and extends her condolences to the families of the victims.

Fight against the scourge of terrorism can only be successful through the absolute solidarity and cooperation of the international community. Turkey acts in complete solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Pakistani people and government in the fight against terrorism which we consider a common enemy of the humankind. This point has also been strongly emphasized during the visit of Prime Minister Erdoğan to Pakistan.

On this sad occasion, we once again reiterate our full support for the peace, welfare and security efforts of Pakistan.
