Turkey has been elected to the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the period 2013-2016 at the elections held during the FAO Conference which convened in Rome last week.

Turkey’s election to the FAO Council is the manifestation of its international role and its efforts carried out in the fields of food security, sustainable development, agriculture, hunger prevention and rural development and also an outcome of the multilateral diplomacy it has adopted in this regard.

Turkey will actively continue the intense efforts it has exerted so far in the area of food and agriculture also as a member of the FAO Council, which is the Organization’s most important decision-making and executive body after the Conference.
