No: 158, 3 June 2018, Press release regarding the inaugration ceremony of the UN Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries

The inaugration ceremony for the UN Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries which was established in Turkey with the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted on 23 December 2016, will take place at the TUBITAK Marmara Teknokent (MARTEK) in Gebze on 4 June 2018.

Representing the Turkish Government, Dr. Faruk Özlü, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology will host the inaugration ceremony which will be attended by Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and by Ms. Fekitamoeloa Katoa Utoikamanu, Under Secretary General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States as well as by a number of national and foreign dignitaries.

The UN Technology Bank aims to strengthen the science, technology and innovation capacity of the Least Developed Countries and facilitate their transfer of technology.

With the establishment of the Technology Bank, Turkey will have made a major contribution to the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals.
