We have learned with sorrow that a severe earthquake centered in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran has occured today (April 16), also affecting the Baluchistan Province in southwestern Pakistan. 

We wish God's mercy upon those who lost their lives, convey our condolences to their bereaved families and express our hopes for a speedy recovery of the injured.

Turkey is ready to do her utmost to provide any kind of assistance to these two friendly and brotherly countries. The Turkish people, who have suffered from earthquakes in the past, are in solidarity with the brotherly peoples of Iran and Pakistan. 

The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs called his Iranian counterpart today to convey our condolences.
