Foreign Minister Davutoğlu visits the camps in Rakhine State

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu together with Mr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the representatives of the Member States of the OIC Contact Group on Rohingya Muslims visited the Rakhine State and made observations at the camps of the displaced Muslims and Buddhists.

Speaking to the press after the contacts at the camps, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stated that they met with the representatives of both Muslim and Buddhist communities and listened to the both sides. He added that they discussed the steps which should be taken in order to establish ethnic and sectarian peace. Recalling that he visited the Rakhine State last year as well, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said “There is a progress, even though incremental, in the conditions, however there is much to be done”.

Stressing that Turkey will continue to support the Rakhine, “Our brothers who embrace us here are pleased with our second visit and being remembered. We told that we will continue to visit and to stand by our brothers in the Rakhine“ said Foreign Minister Davutoğlu.
