Foreign Minister Davutoğlu participates in the Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu participated in the Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels.

During the first day of the meeting, Ukrainian crisis and NATO-Russia relations were at the top of the agenda. In this vein, NATO Foreign Ministers have decided to suspend all practical civilian and military cooperation between NATO and Russia and to review NATO’s relations with Russia at next meeting in June.

It was also stated at the statement issued by NATO Foreign Ministers that the political dialogue in the NATO-Russia Council can continue, as necessary, at the Ambassadorial level and above, to exchange views, first and foremost on the crisis.

Moreover, during the Foreign Ministerial Meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, Russia’s illegal military intervention in Ukraine and Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity were condemned and it was emphasized that Russia’s illegal and illegitimate “annexation” of Crimea is not recognized.

As part of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu held bilateral meetings with U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, UK Foreign Secretary, William Hague, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Deshchytsia and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdzija. Also, he met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Füle.
