Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s visit to Munich

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Munich on 11-12 February 2016 to participate in the 52nd Munich Security Conference where current crises and security challenges were discussed.

Within the scope of this conference, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu made a speech at the panel discussion entitled “Refugee Refused? The EU and the Migrant Crisis” and shared Turkey’s views. In his speech, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined that Turkey is the largest refugee hosting country in the world and pointed out the importance of burden-sharing.

In the margins of the conference, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the meetings hosted by US Secretary of State John Kerry and later participated in the meeting of the International Syria Support Group, which aims at finding a political solution to the conflict in Syria.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu had a meeting with his Qatari and Saudi counterparts, and held bilateral meetings with the KRG President Masoud Barzani and his Somalian counterpart.

In Munich, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also visited the stands of the Turkish companies at the 2016 Trade and Tourism Fair.
