Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with the staff of the Consulate General in Mosul along with their families at a breakfast meeting on 2 September 2014. Deputy Minister Ambassador Mr. Naci Koru and Undersecretary Ambassador Mr. Feridun Sinirlioğlu also attended the meeting.

In his speech, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed that all the options have been considered and all possible means employed in order to prevent any harm to our citizens for 101 days. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said “On behalf of myself, my wife, my homeland and my people; welcome home.”

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed that Consul General Öztürk Yılmaz and his colleagues never forgot that they were representing the Turkish nation and acted accordingly. He stated “As a state and a nation, we overcame this important test with tremendous success. Turkey once again demonstrated to the entire world that it’s a big and powerful country.”

Stressing that Turkey has strength and determination to prevent dirty and treacherous aims, Foreign Minister stated “ Turkey has always played and will continue to play a leading role both in counter-terrorism and in regional security and stability efforts.”
