The visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to the U.S. to attend the International Counter-DEASH Coalition Foreign Ministers Meeting, 5-6 February 2019

On 5-6 February 2019 Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Washington to attend the International Counter-DEASH Coalition Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo of Brazil on 6 February 2019.

At the meeting, bilateral relations and international developments were discussed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed Turkey’s concerns on the possible transfer of the Brazilian Embassy to Jerusalem.

On the same day, at International Counter-DEASH Coalition Foreign Ministerial, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized the need to avoid possible power vacuums in Iraq and Syria in post-DEASH period and stated that Turkey is ready to do whatever it takes to help stabilize both Iraq and Syria.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also had meetings with US Senators and emphasized that our wish to work together with the new Congress through a positive and constructive agenda.

Finally Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Turkish and Azerbaijani students.
