H.E. İsmail Cem, Foreign Minister of Turkey will pay an official visit to the Swiss Confederation on January 24-25, 2001.

This visit which was decided upon the invitation extended by H.E Joseph Deiss during his visit to Turkey last year, is the first visit to Switzerland at the ministerial level for the last 20 years.

During the talks between the delegations headed by H.E. İsmail Cem and his counterpart H.E. Deiss, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest are expected to be taken up.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, H.E. İsmail Cem will be received by the Head of the Swiss Confederation, H.E. Moritz Leuenberger.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism will be signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
