NO:177 -;12 Aralik 2007, Press Statement Regarding terrorist attack in Algeria (Unofficial Translation)

Turkey strongly condemns the abhorrent terror attack that took place yesterday (11 December 2007) in brotherly Algeria, in front of the buildings of the Council of Constitution and the United Nations in which, according to initial data, many deaths and casualties occurred, including UN staff members.

Turkey, who always underlines the vital importance of effective international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, considers terrorism as a crime against humanity, regardless of its sources and pretexts; and is deeply concerned that these attacks targeted UN staff members as well as friendly and brotherly people of Algeria.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the people and the Government of Algeria, and to the United Nations, and wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded.
