NO:166 - 19 November 2007, Press Statement regarding Turkey-EU Ministerial Troika Meeting in Brussels (Unofficial Translation)

Turkey-EU Ministerial Troika meeting will take place in Brussels on November 20, 2007. A delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ali Babacan will participate in the Ministerial Troika meeting.

Turkey-EU Troika meetings at ministerial level are being held during each Presidency since the 1999 Helsinki Summit where Turkey was given the “candidate status”. The previous Ministerial Troika took place in Ankara on June 4, 2007.

EU Troika will be represented by the Portuguese Presidency, incoming Slovenian Presidency, European Commission and the EU Council.

Ministerial Troika will be an opportunity to exchange views with our EU counterparts on the recent developments in our region. During the meeting, there will be an exchange of views as regards the reforms to be realized in the period ahead and we will also share our views with our EU counterparts concerning the 2007 Progress Report and Enlargement Strategy Document, issued on 6 November 2007.
