Mr. Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of South Korea (Republic of Korea) paid an official visit to Turkey on 19-20 January 2012.
At the meetings headed by Foreign Ministers, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues were discussed. Preparations for high-level visits to be realized between Turkey and South Korea in the near future were reviewed.
As part of the visit, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Guest Minister signed the Action Plan for cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Action Plan covers political, economic, cultural, security and consular issues of concrete cooperation during the years 2012-2016. Within this framework, it is aimed at enhancing coordination in international arena mainly UN and G-20; realizing the high economic potential on the basis of special character of political relations and developing friendly relations between the people of two countries with joint cultural, academic and scientific activities.
Action plan envisages to deepening the cooperation with South Korea with whom we have special relations stemming from history and which we consider as an important partner in East Asia and the Pacific.
