
The Fourth Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Republic of Turkey was held in Kars, Turkey with the participations of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili and Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Memmedyarov, on 10 December 2014.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Ministers exchanged views regarding the prospects of developing regional cooperation on issues of common interest and reviewed the decisions taken at the previous meetings. On this occasion, esteemed Ministers also held bilateral talks.
Speaking at the joint press conference held after the meeting, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that they had a fortuitous meeting and that there are multi-dimensional relations between them. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said that they had the opportunity to evaluate joint projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway and Trans-Anatolia Natural Gas Pipeline.
Expressing that they had in-depth discussions regarding the recent developments in the region, Foreign Minister reiterated that they put emphasis on the importance of the peaceful resolution of the conflicts and our permanent support to Azerbaijan and Georgia in the resolution of these conflicts within the framework of their territorial integrity.
Stating that Armenia was left out of the mechanism due to the existent problems, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said “It is our wish for Armenia to join us too, by respecting the borders of its neighbors. This way the missing link will be completed.”
During the meeting, a joint statement was drafted by the Ministers. At the Kars Statement Foreign Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the growing bilateral and trilateral cooperation among their countries and reaffirmed their strong commitment for further enhancing their cooperation based on the strategic partnership, good neighborly relations, mutual respect and trust among the three countries.
