Relations between Türkiye and Colombia

Relations between Türkiye and Colombia are developing in almost every field.

Türkiye and Colombia opened their Embassies respectively in 2010 in Bogota and 2011 in Ankara.

The visit of the President of Colombia H.E. Juan Manuel Santos to Türkiye in 2011 and the visit of the President of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Colombia in February 2015 have been important milestones in our bilateral relations.

During the visit of H.E. President Erdoğan, important agreements were signed such as Cooperation Agreements in the fields of Defense Industry, Tourism and Agriculture.

Following the visit of H.E. President Erdoğan, Turkish Airlines started flights on the İstanbul-Bogota-Panama-İstanbul route in May 2016, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has opened its second regional office in Bogota following the one in Mexico City and Anatolian News Agency has established an office in Bogota.

The Foreign Minister of Colombia H.E. Maria Angela Holguin paid an official visit to Türkiye on September 29, 2017 and had a meeting with Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in İstanbul.

The trade volume between the two countries was around 1,7 billion USD in 2019 (Türkiye’s exports: 248,7 million Dollars, Türkiye’s imports 1,46 billion USD).
