Due to geographical distance, the relations between the two countries
remained limited in the past. However, following Türkiye's outreach policy
towards the Latin America and Caribbean region, the relations began to
develop further.
Within this framework, the Embassy of Türkiye opened in La Paz and H.E.
Ambassador Serap Özcoşkun assumed office on 14 February 2018.
The official visit of former President of the Plurinational State of
Bolivia, H.E. Evo Morales to Türkiye on 9 April 2019 constituted the first
Presidential visit between the two countries.
Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with his Bolivian counterpart
H.E. Diego Pary Rodriguez during 74th UN General Assembly in New York in
September 2019.
The trade volume between the two countries was approximately 130 million
USD (Türkiye’s exports: 22 million USD, Türkiye’s imports:
108 million USD) by the end of 2019.
