President Margvelashvili of Georgia pays an official visit to Turkey

President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili is paying an official visit to Turkey upon the invitation of President of Turkey, H.E. Abdullah Gül.

At the meeting co-chaired by President Gül and his Georgian counterpart, all aspects of the relations between Turkey and Georgia were discussed and views were exchanged on regional and international developments which are of interest to both countries.

Speaking at the joint press conference, President Gül sharing his happiness with the fact that President Margvelashvili is paying his first official visit at the bilateral level to Turkey since taking office, said “We reaffirmed once again that bilateral relations between Turkey and Georgia are at an excellent level and reiterated our resoluteness to carry further these relations in all areas.”

Pointing out to the importance given by the two countries to region’s stability and security, President Gül stated “We are of the opinion that the existing conflicts in the region should be solved through peaceful methods within the internationally recognized borders. In this respect, we believe that solutions to the current issues concerning South Ossetia and Abkhazia should be found on the basis of Georgian territorial integrity and sovereignty. Within this framework, we always support Georgia and we will continue to support.”
