No: 190, 7 June 2014, Press Release Regarding the Third Turkey-Africa Senior Officials Meeting

The Second Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit is expected to be held in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea on November 2014. Within the framework of the preparations for the Summit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Third Turkey-Africa Senior Officials Meeting in Ankara on 6 June 2014.

Representatives from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Turkish institutions and agencies, from Mauritania, currently holding the chairmanship of the African Union, from Equatorial Guinea, which will host the the Second Turkey-Africa Summit, from member States of the African Union and from the African Union Commission participated in the meeting.

The representatives of relevant Turkish institutions and agencies made presentations with regard to the projects and cooperation fields that have been implemented in Africa since the 2008 Istanbul Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit, which created a sustainable structure.

The representatives of the African countries and African Union officials stressed that Turkey’s development and humanitarian aid in Africa is appreciated all over the continent and that they attach importance to the continuation of Turkey’s cooperation with Africa. They underlined that the Second Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit will be an important opportunity in this regard and stated their expectations.

Turkey is determined to develop further its relations in all fields with the African Union, the regional groups in the continent and African states.
