No: 133, 25 April 2015, Press Release Regarding the Earthquake in Nepal

We have learned that an earthquake  measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Nepal at about 11.40 in local time today (April 25th), with its epicenter located 81-kilometers away from  Kathmandu. According to initial reports, more than 400 people lost their lives as many buildings collapsed both in Kathmandu and in several other cities of Nepal.

We have established contact with some of the Turkish citizens in Nepal and no Turkish citizen has been reported at the moment as dead or injured.

We convey our condolences to the friendly people and Government of Nepal on the loss of lives in the earthquake. Our relevant institutions have initiated the necessary preparations to deliver humanitarian assistance which Nepali people need urgently.
