No: 116, 15 April 2015, Press Release Regarding the Turkey’s Assistance for the Struggle Against Ebola Virus Outbreak

Since the start of the ebola virus outbreak, Turkey has been extending its support and assistance for the struggle against the epidemic through bilateral and multilateral channels.

Most recently, medical supplies with a total value of 2.5 million Turkish Liras were delivered on 28-30 January 2015 to Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia which have been directly affected by the outbreak.

The Contribution Agreement on Turkey’s grant of 1 million US Dollars to the mechanism established by the African Union to support the fight against the ebola virus epidemic (ASEOWA) was signed on 13 April 2015 in Addis Ababa by Osman Rıza Yavuzalp, Ambassador of Turkey to Ethiopia and Mustafa S. Kaloko, African Union Commissioner for Social Affairs.

While maintaining its support to the emergency aid efforts to fight the ebola virus outbreak, Turkey will continue to contribute to those efforts at the bilateral and multilateral levels towards overcoming the negative impacts of the outbreak on the mid-term and long-term development efforts of the region.
