Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with his Sudanese counterpart.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan Mohammed Ali Ahmed Karti is paying a working visit to Turkey on 9-11 April upon the invitation of Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

At the meetings, steps that may be taken in order to further develop bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international developments were reviewed extensively.

Speaking at the press conference held after the meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said “Sudan has always been our opening gate to the African continent. Emphasizing that Turkey’s opening up to Africa policy has evolved into partnership which leads to developing bilateral relations with all African countries, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu pointed out that development projects as well as humanitarian aid continue to increase.

Stating that steps that can be taken to develop economic ties were reviewed in the meeting , Foregn Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the current trade volume is around 320 million Dollars and that we would like to enhance it up to 500 million dollars.

In his remarks, Foreign Minister Karti put an emphasis to the importance of Turkish-Sudanese relations and praised Turkey’s effors regarding humanitarian assistance.

Within the framework of his visit, Foreign Minister Karti will also be received by President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
