The abhorrent terrorist attack that took place early this morning in Karachi, targeting the convoy of Mrs. Benazir Butto, - the former Prime Minister and the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, who returned to her country after a long period of time - which claimed more than 100 innocent lives and left hundreds of people wounded, has aroused deep regret and concern.

Turkey always underlines the vital importance of effective international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, which She considers as a crime against humanity, regardless of its sources and pretexts.

Turkey strongly condemns this terrorist attack which, in the person of Mrs. Butto, in fact, targeted peace and stability in brotherly Pakistan.

In this troubled day, Turkey and the Turkish people, having a solemn belief in the bright future of Pakistan, as always stand by the brotherly Pakistani people and Pakistan. As a matter of fact, Turkey appreciates the intensive efforts of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

We sincerely share the grief of our Pakistani brothers and sisters caused by this heinous attack, extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, as well as to the people and the Government of Pakistan, and wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded.
