Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus paid his first official visit to Turkey on 21-23 June 2016 upon the invitation of Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu.

In the meetings between Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu, the negotiation process regarding the settlement of the Cyprus issue as well as cooperation between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were discussed. Speaking at the joint press conference after the meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu expressed their views and goals regarding the conclusion of the negotiations until the end of this year.
