Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault of France paid a visit to Turkey on 24 October 2016. On the occasion of this visit, the second meeting was held in accordance with the “Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Framework for Cooperation between Turkey and France” which was signed in 2014. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Ayrault also visited the Parliament to show the solidarity of the Government of France after the coup attempt. In the meetings held during the visit, bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments were discussed. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Ayrault held a joint press conference after their meetings.
