Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) on 7 July 2012 in İstanbul. The majority of the GCTF Members attended the meeting at ministerial level. The UN which has contributed to the process since its inception also participated in the meeting.

GCTF which was formally launched in September 2011 is co-chaired by Turkey and the USA. Three regional - Horn of Africa, Yemen and Coast Region & Southeastern Asia- and two thematic - Justice & the Rule of Law Working Group and Countering Violent Extremism- working groups have been established under GCTF. Turkey with the EU co-chairs the working group on Horn of Africa.
