The new Iraqi Government has assumed office as 14 members of the Cabinet selected by Mr. Adil Abdulmehdi who was designated to form the government following the Iraqi parliamentary elections on 12 May 2018, secured vote of confidence. We wish that the new Government will be to the benefit of the friendly and brotherly people of Iraq.

We hope that the new government will take steps to meet the expectations of the Iraqi people, who have experienced great sufferings and difficulties in recent years. In this context, we believe that inclusive practices embracing all components of the Iraqi people will contribute to the protection of the territorial integrity and political unity of Iraq and help to achieve sustainable stability in the country.

We expect that the remaining members of the Cabinet who are yet to be approved, would be selected with this understanding.

Turkey stands ready to work with the new government to promote peace, security and stability in Iraq and to contribute to its reconstruction efforts.
