We observe with concern that Greece has turned into a safe haven for the
terrorist organizations, such as DHKP/C, the PKK and FETÖ. It is
unacceptable that, in contradiction with the international obligations
concerning countering terrorism, Greece shows sympathy and tolerance and
provides assistance towards these organizations.
The Greek Police arrested nine DHKP/C members back in 2017 in view of
serious indications of an assassination attempt against the Turkish
President. Despite the fact that Turkey issued arrest warrants and
requested extraditions of these individuals, today’s decision on dropping
charges against them also demonstrates as to why these terrorist elements
are nested in Greece.
DHKP/C is designated as a terrorist organization by the EU. In this
respect, the Greek Court’s decision also clearly disrupts the efforts on
countering terrorism in Europe.
