On 2 May 2019, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Luis Alberto Castiglioni of Paraguay, on visit in Turkey.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that we attached great importance to our economic and commercial relations with Paraguay and the signing of trade agreements and the increase of mutual investments between Turkey and Paraguay would further develop bilateral trade.

Following the meeting, the two Ministers held a joint press conference.

Before the meeting the two Ministers attended the inauguration of the Embassy of Paraguay in Ankara.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that with the opening of our Embassy in Asuncion in November 2018 and the inauguration of the Paraguayan Embassy in Ankara on 2 May 2019, Turkey-Paraguay diplomatic relations established in 1953 would enter a new period.
