Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Malta on 21-22 December 2018 upon the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion Carmelo Abela of the Republic of Malta.

On 21 December, Friday, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion Carmelo Abela.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that bilateral relations were discussed and views on the promotion of stability and prosperity in the Mediterranean were exchanged.

On the same day, President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of Malta received Minister Çavuşoğlu.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu extended President Erdoğan's greetings and expressed that he is looking forward to hosting her in Turkey in January 2019.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also visited the Turkish Military Cemetery in Malta. Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that he is deeply honoured to visit once again the Turkish Military Cemetery where rest forever our heroic soldiers as well as other Muslims.
