Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Lebanon to hold bilateral meetings on 23 August 2019.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Michel Aoun of Lebanon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed the greetings of President Erdoğan.

At the meeting, the importance of the security and stability of Lebanon for our region was emphasized and Syria, Palestine and Eastern Mediterranean issues were discussed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was also received by Nebih Berri, the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would improve interparliamentary cooperation in order to further strengthen our relations.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil of Lebanon.

At the meeting all aspects of bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would enhance trade and economic relations.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that we had similar views in eliminating the difficulties in our common geography with Lebanon.

After that meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Turkish citizens living in Lebanon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we wanted to develop our deep-rooted historical, social and cultural ties with Lebanon in every field and that our greatest support in this regard were our citizens.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we agreed with Lebanon to improve our economic and commercial relations and for this purpose we would convene the Joint Economic Commission.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkish companies were ready to contribute more to the infrastructure and development of Lebanon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Minister of Interior Raya Hassan of Lebanon and wished her success in her new capacity.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that preserving stability and security of Lebanon was important and underlined that Turkish Ministry of Interior was ready to further cooperate in various fields.

Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Wael Abou Faouri, Minister of Industry of Lebanon, prominent business people, as well as representatives of NGOs and academicians.
