On 25 January 2019 Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Prior to the official meetings, Minister Çavuşoglu was presented with an honorary doctorate degree by Girne American University.

During the visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with President Mustafa Akıncı of TRNC, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay, Speaker Teberrüken Uluçay of the Legislative Assembly as well as the leaders of the political parties represented in the Parliament.
