Visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Algeria, 8-9 October 2019

Following his visit to Serbia accompanying President Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Algeria to hold bilateral meetings on 8-9 October 2019.

On 8 October 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Turkish business people in Algeria.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey ranks first for foreign investments in Algeria and that our trade volume exceeds 4.5 billion dollars.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that we were determined to further develop our economic and trade relations.

On 9 October 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui of Algeria.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that the meeting was fruitful and that we would continue to strengthen our economic and commercial relations with Algeria, our second largest trading partner in Africa.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum of Algeria.

At the meeting, regional and international issues were discussed.

Following the meeting, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources was signed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we had the potential to further develop our bilateral relations.

Then, two Ministers held a joint press conference.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu was also received by President Abdelkader Bensalah of Algeria.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that we attached great importance to the stability and prosperity of Algeria, a country with which we shared a common history and had strong ties.
