QA-14, 19 April 2015, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tanju Bilgiç, In Response to a Question Regarding the New Law on Decreasing the Overcrowding in Greek Prisons, Benefitting Savvas Ksiros, Member of the 17 November Organization, Responsible for the Murder of our Diplomats

We have learned that the Greek Parliament has approved a draft law that grants the opportunity of conditional release to approximately 1700 to 1950 prisoners, to serve their sentences in house arrest with electronic bracelets, with a view to decreasing the overcrowding of the prisons.

We closely follow the developments. We consider that allowing the members of terrorist 17 November Organization, who are responsible for the murder of our diplomats Çetin Görgü and Haluk Sipahioğlu and the assassination attempt at Deniz Bölükbaşı, benefitting from such arrangements will constitute a weakness in the fight against terrorism and a serious violation of the rights of victims of terrorism.
