QA-11, 17 April 2016, Statement by Tanju Bilgiç, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Response to a Question Regarding the Allegation in a Newspaper Claiming that Syrians Approaching the Turkish Border Were Fired Upon

Allegations published in some international media organs claiming that Turkish Armed Forces have opened fire on Syrian civilians fleeing from the DAESH on Turkey’s southern border are totally baseless.

Turkey hosts approximately 3 million Syrians who have fled the conflict environment in Syria. Last week, thousands of Syrians were once again displaced as a result of the attacks by DAESH terrorist organization in northern Syria. Following these recent developments, Turkish relief organizations are taking the necessary measures on both sides of the border in order to help the Syrians.
