Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal who paid an official visit to Turkey on 18 October 2017.

During the meeting Turkey-Portugal relations and current issues were discussed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu and Minister Santos Silva signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of diplomatic archives between Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and Portugal.

At the joint press conference, Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined that Turkey attaches utmost importance to the current excellent relations between the two countries and stated that Turkey aims to further deepen its cooperation with Portugal.

Foreign Minister Santos Silva of Portugal was also received by President Erdoğan.
