Peace Summit was held in Istanbul

Ceremonial Events on the Commemoration of the Centenary of the Çanakkale Land Battles started today with the Peace Summit organised under the auspices of H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in İstanbul. Renown academicians and high-level representatives from various countries participated in the Peace Summit.

In the framework of the Summit, Prof. Christopher Clark (Cambridge University), Prof. Şükrü Hanioğlu (Princeton University), Prof. Margaret MacMillan and Prof. Sir Hew Strachan( Oxford University) , Assoc.Prof. Michael A. Reynolds (Princeton University) and Secratary General of the Council of Europe Mr. Thorbjorn Jagland attended the Academic Panel entitled “World War I on its 100th Anniversary” which was moderated by Ambassador Altay Cengizer.

The Summit continued with the Senior Officials Session in which H.E. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, H.E. Fuad Masum, President of Iraq, H.E. Tony Abbott, Prime Minister of Australia, and H.E. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zeland have delivered speeches.

Heads of States and Governments as well as other heads of delegations visited the Art and Photograghy exhibition on World War I and Gallipoli and pursuantly H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the guests.

Peace Summit came to an end with World Premiere of “57th Infantry Regiment Çanakkale 100th Anniversary Symphony” composed by Can Atilla, and dinner hosted by H.E. the President of Turkey for the Heads of Guest Delegations.
