The “Support Group”, comprising of Special Representatives for Afghanistan and Pakistan appointed by a number of countries, is holding its third meeting today (May 18, 2009) in İstanbul.

 Representatives of 22 countries and international organizations have participated in the meeting, hosted by Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The “Support Group” was  established with the purpose of contributing to the efforts of Afghanistan and Pakistan for solving  the problems that they are facing. Turkey, attaching high importance for the immediate attainment of the well-being and stability of  brotherly Afghanistan and Pakistan, will resolutely continue its active support to this effect.
