We are concerned over the declarations of Israeli authorities to build 750 housing units in Givat Zeev settlement located to the north of East Jerusalem.

This decision contradicts the obligations of Israel within the framework of international law. Furthermore, it might lead to new tensions between the parties and harm the Annapolis process.

This kind of unilateral initiatives strengthen the hands of peace opponents and extremists. We deem Israel’s compliance with her obligations under international law as vital within the context of keeping peace efforts on a sound basis.
